Videography

Susie Davies

I am a videographer with 5 years' experience of delivering short-form, scripted and unscripted content. My clients have included large organisations such as the NHS, Newcastle University, Northumberland County Council, the UK Government, Microsoft, Amazon, McKinsey & Company, PwC and ComputaCenter, as well as independent businesses such as cafes, a zoo and a whisky distiller. I started my career as an in-house video editor for tech company SenServe, then worked for Kaleidoscope Creative Film Agency for almost 3 years, before becoming freelance.

I work with a range of cameras (including Canon, RED, Sony, Blackmagic and Panasonic), lenses, shotgun and lapel microphones, gimbals, and LED lights. On set I have worked independently, in small teams of 2-3, and as part of larger crews. I am especially proficient at interviewing contributors for unscripted, documentary style content.

In post, I know my way around Final Cut, Premier Pro and Davinci Resolve, and am proficient in colour grading, sound design and creating vertical versions for social media. I have a wide knowledge of plug-ins and can responsibly find the perfect assets to ensure each video is unique.

Alongside my videography work, I direct and produce documentaries. My latest documentary To The Dancers was selected for London Short Film Festival, won Best Short Documentary at Nordic Star Festival, and was selected for 6 other festivals across the UK, US and Europe. Primarily, I am concerned with story. As an ardent consumer of books, documentaries and current affairs my brain is tuned to carving content into emotive, meaningful narrative. For a taste of my editing, watch my portfolio above which contains a selection of my projects.
